Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about pricing, scoring, live pages, and how tournaments work.

Is SportsScorer free?

Yes, SportsScorer is free to use today. Creating tournaments, live ball-by-ball scoring, public pages, standings, and player stats all cost nothing, and there are no ads or payments in the product.

How do I create a cricket tournament?

Sign in with your phone number and a one-time password, pick cricket, choose a format — knockout, league, or groups then knockout — and set your dates. Fixtures are generated automatically, and you can edit or reschedule any match before you publish. The whole setup takes a few minutes on the Android app or the web.

Can spectators follow a match without the app or an account?

Yes, every tournament and match has a public web page that anyone can open from a shared link — no app install and no login. Live scores on those pages update in real time without refreshing.

Does scoring work without internet?

Yes, scoring is offline-tolerant. If the connection drops mid-match, the scorer keeps recording every ball on their phone and everything syncs automatically when the network returns, so a dropped connection never loses a ball.

What is a stub profile?

A stub profile is a player profile created when a captain or organizer adds someone to a roster by phone number before that person has signed up. When the player later signs up with the same phone number, the profile becomes their account and keeps all of its history — teams, matches, and stats.

Which sports does SportsScorer support?

Cricket, football, volleyball and badminton, all live today. Cricket is scored ball by ball with complete scorecards; football logs goals, cards and shootouts; volleyball and badminton are scored rally by rally. Every sport gets the same fixtures, the same live link and the same public pages.

Which platforms is SportsScorer available on?

SportsScorer is an Android app and a responsive website with an identical feature set; there is no iOS app yet. Spectators don't need either one — public live pages open in any browser.

How do standings and net run rate work?

Standings update automatically after every result using configurable points for wins, draws, and losses. For cricket leagues, net run rate (NRR) is calculated automatically and used to break ties, and in knockout stages winners advance to the next round on their own.

Can I add co-organizers to a tournament?

Yes, a tournament owner can add co-organizers who get the same management powers — teams, fixtures, schedules, settings, and scorer assignments. Sharing the admin work is how bigger tournaments stay on schedule.

How do teams register for a tournament?

Organizers share a registration link, and teams that sign up through it land in an approval queue the organizer controls. Organizers can also create teams directly and assign a captain by phone number, after which captains manage their own rosters.

Can I score a casual match without creating a tournament?

Yes, quick matches let you score a standalone game in any of the four sports with no tournament around it. You get the same live scoring, and the match still counts toward player profiles and career stats.

Who can edit a tournament?

Only the organizer — the owner and any co-organizers they add. Every change to teams, fixtures, schedules, settings, and scorer assignments is organizer-only; captains manage just their own team's roster, and scorers can score only the matches assigned to them.
